Jail time

Ah, Monopoly: Go to Jail—because nothing says "family fun" like an entire expansion pack dedicated to systemic punishment and punitive justice! Played this gem with my in-laws (yes, those in-laws—the ones who think the Daily Mail is too left-wing), and I can confidently say: I have never felt closer to economic ruin and the British carceral state. This expansion adds new jail-related mechanics, including longer sentences, private prisons, and surprise incarceration cards ("You rolled a 4? Too bad. That’s four years in Belmarsh."). My mother-in-law gleefully ran a for-profit jail empire, insisting it was “very efficient” while demanding rent and ankle monitor fees. My father-in-law, meanwhile, said he wouldn’t bail me out because it would “discourage entrepreneurial spirit.” At one point I landed on a new space called “Mandatory Curfew” and had to skip three turns because “I looked a bit suspicious.” My brother-in-law introduced stop-and-search rules for anyone with less than £200. I just wanted to buy Old Kent Road, and now I’m being frisked for contraband dice. The real kicker? The banker can now also be the Judge. Guess who they voted in? Yep—my in-laws appointed themselves, jointly. I challenged it and was immediately sent to jail again for "whining like a Remainer." Would I recommend Monopoly: Go to Jail? Only if you're nostalgic for feudalism or want to see what happens when your in-laws cosplay as authoritarian landlords with too much red wine and a warped sense of justice. Final verdict: I’m still in jail. They say I can get out if I privatize the NHS

Great addition to the original monopoly. The expansion just adds to the classic game and makes it more fun overall. Pieces are well made and sure to last a long time. Easy to put together, simple yet compact for travel, and just a nice addition to our normal gaming nights. Perfect for those who like to get up to mischief when playing monopoly.

The Monopoly Go to Jail Expansion adds an intriguing layer of strategy and excitement to the classic game. This expansion introduces new mechanics surrounding the Go to Jail space, giving players the ability to “escape jail” or find ways to mitigate the penalties associated with being sent to jail. The added cards and player options make each turn feel more dynamic, leading to unexpected twists that can dramatically affect the game's outcome. It creates a balance between risk and reward, as players navigate the potential consequences of their decisions. Overall, the Monopoly Go to Jail Expansion breathes new life into the traditional gameplay while maintaining the core elements that fans love. It’s a delightful addition for both casual players and Monopoly enthusiasts who are looking to spice up their game nights!

A perfect game for the whole family, where the laughter and fun do not end. Accessories only enrich it. They make the game more interesting. I recommend this set not only for autumn evenings, but for all evenings spent with the family

Poor QC, Unclear Instructions, Some Assembly Requi

This expansion pack is supposed to make the game go faster. I played this with my fiancé, hoping for a quick, fun game as it was late. This wasn't the case, at least not with 2 people. The instructions aren't very clear and leave you with a lot of questions, resulting in having to make agreed upon house rules. I was also a little annoyed that assembly was required. You have to put tiny stickers on blank dice, and put together additional pieces. During the gameplay, we discovered that there were issues with our parts. The instructions say when you roll the chance die to take the amount of corruption cards shown on the die. There are no numbers on the die, so we were going off of the number on the regular dice, until we realized that if playing with several people you'd run out of cards really quickly since you could get up to 12 cards per roll. This made me look closer at the instructions, and I noticed the image on the instructions show that one of the stickers is supposed to have a number 2 on it. None of the stickers provided to me had any numbers. I did some googling and found that people have different variations of these stickers, so it seems there is some quality control issues. We ended up agreeing that we'd just take 1 card if you landed on on one of card drawing sides, because the corruption cards give a huge advantage and if you have a big pile of them the advantage you get is far too great. With only 2 people playing, all of the corruption is targeted at each other, which makes the game a bit unfair and one of us was constantly in jail, so it felt like there wasn't much traveling around the board. We ended up with so much money that we could tell the game was going to take forever, and we gave up after 3 hours. The corruption cards are fun and they do put an interesting spin on the game, but I definitely wouldn't recommend playing with only 1 other person unless you want to play forever and really end up hating each other even moreso than the regular game makes you hate each other. We won't be using this expansion pack again until we have at least 4 players. I did receive this in exchange for my honest opinion.
