The Risk Deep Space is a fantastic way to introduce the classic Risk game to children. Although the recommended age is 10+, my 8 year old was able to play the game with a little guidance. We both loved it! It was a bit of a learning curve at first but we took the time to read all of the rules carefully and were ready to play. At each turn, you get to "mine" an ore or gem for each planet that you occupy with at least two player. This had my young Minecraft fan really get into the game. Most of the cards have fun little jokes that had us cracking up when we played them. I love that there's an easy option to turn this into a 2-player game (they included 2 panels to hide 2 planets, which makes the board more manageable for two) as it's usually just the two of us playing board games. The space dog token is also an adorable, exciting addition to the game. I can tell this is a game we will be excited to play again and again.

A little complicated

This board game is a little complicated. There are a lot of little pieces and a lot of directions. I do not recommend playing this game with younger children. Will try to play this game down the road when the children are older.

Fun update to the RISK game.

I like this game for several reasons: I like that it's conquering planets instead of going to war with neighbor countries. I have 2 young teens & just trying to be mindful. Also, the board & pieces are very colorful. An issue I have is that some of the smaller print on the Action cards & tokens required me to get my reading glasses to see them & the 128 plastic recruits (astronauts) are very tiny. But neither of these issues were a problem for my kids. My family & I thought this was a fun game and enjoyed playing it, but it's not for younger kids. It is a little complicated & we had to play a full game before we got it down. But my 13 year old picked it up pretty fast and he now wants to play it every night.

Love Risk? Add this to your collection! I’ve been an avid Risk player for decades; similar in gameplay, easy to move into, Family was playing in minutes. Looking forward to a collectors addition, and more creative home games. Board games are where the fun is at!
